Reader Lindsay writes in with the following legend:
"Happened in my home town years ago before we moved in. A carnival is held every year, and there's always been the same man working one of the game booths - very, very creepy with a bum leg and deformities all over his face. As one of the woman workers of the carnival was walking to her car one night after they had closed, the creepy guy followed her trying to get her to come to his car with her. She told him to get away from her, but he persisted that she come with him to his car. She started running from him, but surprisingly he kept pace with her. Scared, the woman took a can of mace out of her purse, sprayed the man and sprinted to her car. She was in such a panic that she didn't notice the man hiding in the back seat of her car with a knife."
A classic tale of "No good deed goes unpunished". Lindsay says that the rumor resurfaces every year when the carnival comes back to town - a product of small town imagination. The disabled man in question still works for the carnival. Thanks so much for sending in your tale!
