The time: World War I. More specifically, 1917. The place: a canning plant in Australia. The workers in this plant had been working extremely long shifts with little or no rest for weeks, in an effort to keep up with the demand for rations to be shipped to the Australian soldiers fighting with the Allies in the war against Nazi Germany and the Axis troops. One of these workers, overtired and grown careless, slipped and fell into a meat-dicing machine and was diced into small pieces before anyone noticed. Before any action could be taken his remains were mixed with the animal meats being processed and distributed throughout the processing plant. Notified of the tragedy but under extreme pressure from the Australian government and military, the mangement decided they had no choice but to continue the process since there was no way to identify and remove his remains.

Within a short time the canned rations containing the poor factory worker were distributed to unknowing Australian troops in Europe.
